Updated · By Orthodontists London · 5 min read

Invisalign in the UK typically costs between £1,500 and £5,500, depending on how much your teeth need to move, with short cosmetic cases at the bottom of that range and full treatment of crowding and the bite at the top. In London, adult Invisalign usually starts from around £2,650 to £2,800.

These are typical private fees for the whole course of treatment. Your own price depends on an examination, and we give you the total in writing before you start. How much does Invisalign cost per case type?

Invisalign is not sold at a single price because treatments differ in length and complexity. Align Technology, the company that makes Invisalign, offers clinicians several treatment packages. They are named differently over time, but they fall into the same three groups: short courses with a small number of aligners, mid-length courses with a capped number, and comprehensive courses where the clinician can order as many aligners and refinements as the case needs.

A minor case might involve straightening a single crowded lower incisor that has moved since childhood braces. A moderate case might close a few gaps and level the front teeth on both arches. A comprehensive case corrects crowding across both arches and changes how the teeth bite together, which takes more aligners, more appointments and more planning time. The price follows that workload.

Why is Invisalign more expensive in London?

London practices pay higher rents, rates and salaries, and those costs are reflected in fees. The difference is smaller for aligners than for some fixed braces, because the laboratory cost of the aligners is broadly the same everywhere. In our London price list, adult aligners start from £2,650 in central London and £2,800 in outer London, while metal braces start from £3,650 and £2,800. That shows why you should compare actual quotes rather than assume one area is always cheaper.

What is included in the price of Invisalign?

A fair Invisalign quote covers more than the aligners. Before you agree to treatment, check whether these are included:

  • Consultation and records. Photos, a 3D intraoral scan and X-rays where needed. In London an adult consultation with 3D imaging is often around £140–£145, and some practices deduct it from the treatment fee.
  • The full aligner series and refinements. Refinements are extra aligners ordered if teeth do not track exactly as planned. Comprehensive packages often include them for a set period.
  • Attachments and IPR. Attachments are small tooth-coloured bumps that help aligners grip. IPR (interproximal reduction) is gentle polishing between teeth to create space. Both should be part of the fee.
  • Review appointments. Usually every 6 to 10 weeks.
  • Retainers. You need retainers once treatment ends. Replacement removable retainers cost about £110–£145 each in London, and upper and lower bonded retainers about £450–£500.

What makes Invisalign cost more or less?

Complexity. The single biggest factor. More movement means more aligners and more supervision.

Who plans and supervises treatment. Both specialist orthodontists and general dentists provide Invisalign. A specialist may charge more, and for bite problems their training in diagnosis is often worth it. You can check any clinician on the GDC online register, and specialists appear on the Specialist List in Orthodontics.

Number of refinements. A package with unlimited refinements for five years costs more up front than one that includes a single round, but it can work out cheaper if your teeth need extra adjustment.

Retention. Some fees include a set of retainers and a year of checks. Others charge for retainers separately.

Other dental work. Fillings, gum treatment or a hygiene visit before treatment are usually priced separately.

Is Invisalign cheaper than braces in the UK?

Not always. For simple cases, aligners can cost about the same as fixed braces or less. For complex cases, fixed braces are often more efficient, and some movements are hard to achieve with aligners alone. This table compares typical UK fees for adults.

Can you pay for Invisalign monthly?

Yes, most practices let you pay a deposit and spread the balance, often over 12 to 36 months. Some plans are interest-free and others charge interest, and all credit is subject to status. As an example, a £3,500 treatment with a £500 deposit spread over 24 months at 0% would be £125 a month. Always check the total amount payable and whether the plan is regulated credit. Our guide to Invisalign monthly cost sets out examples at different price points.

Is cheap Invisalign worth the risk?

A low price is fine if the case genuinely is simple and a GDC-registered clinician has examined you in person. Problems tend to come from treatment started without a proper check of gums, roots and the bite, or from packages that leave out refinements and retainers so the real total ends up higher. Remote aligner kits with little or no in-person supervision are not the same as clinician-led Invisalign, and moving teeth with undiagnosed gum disease or decay can cause lasting damage.

If you want to bring the cost down safely, ask whether a shorter package would suit your teeth, whether treating one arch is an option, and whether the practice offers interest-free finance. Our guide to the cheapest Invisalign in London explains which savings are sensible.

How do you compare Invisalign quotes?

Ask each practice for the same information, in writing:

  1. The total fee for the full course of treatment.
  2. The package type and how many refinements are included, for how long.
  3. Who will plan the treatment and who you will see at reviews.
  4. The estimated treatment length and number of appointments.
  5. Which retainers are included and what replacements cost.
  6. What happens if you lose or break an aligner.

With those six answers side by side, you can see which quote is genuinely better value.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Invisalign in the UK in 2026?
Most UK patients pay between £1,500 and £5,500. Minor cases cost the least, comprehensive cases the most. In London, adult Invisalign usually starts from around £2,650 to £2,800.
Why do Invisalign prices vary so much?
Prices depend on how many aligners and refinements your case needs, who supervises treatment, what is included, such as retainers and reviews, and the costs of running the practice.
Does Invisalign cost the same for both arches?
Most quotes cover both upper and lower teeth. Treating a single arch can cost less, but it only suits cases where the bite does not need changing.
Are retainers included in Invisalign prices?
It depends on the practice. Some include a first set of retainers; others charge separately. Removable retainers cost about £110–£145 each in London.
Is Invisalign Lite cheaper than full Invisalign?
Yes. Capped packages with fewer aligners cost less than comprehensive treatment, but they only suit milder cases. Your orthodontist will tell you which package fits your teeth.
